Arsenal are seemingly hoping that Mikel Arteta will not be the only member of staff that the Gunners can lure away from Manchester City, with the Daily Mail reporting that they are also interested in Sam Fagbemi.
The Daily Mail reports that Arteta is closing in on becoming Arsenal’s next boss. But they also reportedly want to bring Fagbemi to the Emirates.

Fagbemi is in charge of the Cityzens’ youth recruitment strategy in the south of England. And the Mail reports that the Premier League champions are very keen to keep the 25-year-old on their books.
However, the report suggests that talks with Arsenal are at an advanced stage. It is noted that the Gunners have offered Fagbemi a significant amount of control over their youth recruitment.

The Mail suggests that Arsenal grew frustrated with City’s ability to land youngsters from down south, and that prompted Per Mertesacker to oversee a reshuffle. It is also reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers’s Phil Antwi is also wanted by the Gunners.
TBR View – Real coup for Arsenal?
Manchester City’s academy appears to be setting the standard, with some seriously exciting players developing in their system.
It is difficult to gauge just how influential Fagbemi has been. But it is arguably telling that City do not want him to leave the club.
That would suggest that it could be a real coup for Arsenal if they can get a deal across the line. It will certainly encourage the supporters that the club appear to be making significant changes at various levels throughout.
