Barcelona would struggle to meet the asking price Arsenal set for Gabriel Magalhaes – which Sport claims is just £33.3 million ahead of the summer.

Reports on Tuesday claimed that Barca are interested in signing the Brazilian as they look to land a left-sided centre-back. And talks with Arsenal have taken place.

It was suggested that the Gunners do not have a lot of money to work with this summer. And thus, they are looking at possible swap deals. Gabriel came up in their discussions with Barca.

Arsenal fans would surely have no interest in seeing the 24-year-old leave. He has been incredibly bright since moving to the Premier League. And his partnership with Ben White looks to have enormous potential.

Mikel Arteta previously suggested that he has an ‘incredible future‘ ahead. So it is almost baffling to read what Sport has now reported as his asking price.

Gabriel signed for just over £23 million. And Sport is now suggesting that that price has risen to £33.3 million.

Amazingly, it is suggested that that price is too steep for Barca. And that is why a swap deal is not being ruled out.

There is absolutely no chance that Arsenal sell Gabriel to Barcelona for £33.3 million

It is always dangerous to rule anything out in the transfer window. You will eventually be made to look foolish. However, there is surely absolutely no chance that Arsenal sell Gabriel this summer for £33.3 million.

He is not yet the finished article. But he clearly has a huge amount of potential.

Arsenal sign Ben White for £50 million in the summer. And there looks to be little between the pair in terms of what they contribute.

The Gunners would expect to make a major profit if they ever decided to sell White. So there is no reason why they would not want a similar amount for Gabriel.

They would be asking for trouble if they sold him for £33.3 million.
