Report: Arsenal want Hector Bellerin to sign a new contract
It’s all change at Arsenal this summer it seems, and now Edu has reportedly told wantaway defender, Hector Bellerin, that he wants him to sign a new contract.
Bellerin had been expected to leave the Gunners and has been linked with a move to Inter Milan for much of the summer. Indeed, reports today have even suggested Arsenal are now open to a loan for Bellerin, with the crucial obligation to buy clause removed.
However, all is not lost for Bellerin it seems when it comes to his future with Arsenal. The Guardian have reported that the Gunners actually want to offer fresh terms to Bellerin.
The change in stance comes alongside another u-turn when it comes to Granit Xhaka. Arsenal are set to offer the Swiss midfielder surprising new terms, and the same could apply for Bellerin too.
Bellerin is one of the longest serving players in the current Arsenal squad.
A host of clubs, including Atletico Madrid as well as Inter, are thought to be keen on taking him to mainland Europe.
Edu keeps on surprising at Arsenal, so what next?
Well, who saw this coming? It’s looked all summer like Bellerin is off to Milan and then from nowhere, a new deal is being lined up.
It’s a summer of madness really at Arsenal. The new signings are good, but they’re really struggling to get anyone out of the door. And now on top of that, they’re doing u-turns it seems.
Bellerin is a good player but he seems to have his heart set on leaving the club. If that is the case, then this new contract makes no sense at all. Put simply, the Gunners have got to get their house in order. And soon.
