Arsenal have joined the race to sign Feyenoord sensation Orkun Kokcu, with the Eredivisie side already expecting to find it difficult to keep the 18-year-old, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Kokcu enjoyed a stunning breakout season last term, scoring three goals and providing four assists in five league starts and 11 appearances in total.

The teenager has already made seven starts in the top flight this season. He has scored once, while he also got a goal in the Europa League qualifiers.

The Daily Mail reports that a host of top European clubs want the Turkey under-21 international, and the Gunners have joined the chase.

It has also been suggested by the Mail that a bid of £20 million should be enough to get a deal done.

TBR’s View

It says a lot about Kokcu’s current ability that he is already a key man in Feyenoord’s midfield. It was former Arsenal defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst who gave him his chance.

His versatility has been key to his emergence into the first-team. Kokcu looks to be at his best further up the field at number 10, but he is also capable of playing a box-to-box role or even deeper.

Given his age, the opportunity is there to mould Kokcu into a master of one of those roles. And for £20 million, it appears that the door is open for Arsenal to produce a potential masterstroke.
