According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven, two years after selling the striker for just £500,000.
The 20-year-old joined the Gunners from Ajax back in 2015. But he would return to the Eredivisie two years later having not made a senior appearance for Arsenal.
Malen has made an outstanding start to life with PSV. He scored five times in their most recent league win, while his record for the campaign stands at 11 goals in 13 games in all competitions.
The Daily Mirror reports that he left the Emirates over his lack of first-team chances under Arsene Wenger. And it appears that his successor now wants to bring him back to the Premier League.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal are one of 45 clubs monitoring the youngster’s situation. But PSV value the striker at £50 million.
With so much interest in Malen already, it is not going to be easy for Arsenal to get a deal done. But they clearly have a chance to win the race.
The Mirror reports that he joined the Gunners to try and emulate Dennis Bergkamp. It may not have worked out the first time round, but that affection for the club must boost their chances. And with Unai Emery at the helm, perhaps Malen would be open to a return if the opportunity presented itself.
