Premier League club Arsenal are set to make a £10 million bid for Inter Milan playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to Sport Mediaset.
The Danish star hasn’t enjoyed a successful year at the Serie A club since his £16 million move from Tottenham last January. He has just four times and registered three assists in 35 appearances for the giants.
Antonio Conte clearly hasn’t been impressed with the 28-year-old and is willing to let Eriksen leave in January – if a deal can be agreed with an interested party.
Arsenal are in need of a creative spark from somewhere and signing Eriksen would represent a bit of a coup.
In seven years at Tottenham, he proved himself as one of the Premier League’s best creative players, helping Spurs to a Champions League final along the way.
He played 305 times for Arsenal’s fierce rivals, scoring 69 goals and registering 89 assists, becoming a shining light under Mauricio Pochettino.
His arrival at the Emirates Stadium would certainly ruffle a few feathers in North London given his previous attachment to Tottenham.
Eriksen earns £229,000-a-week at Inter but the desire to play regular football ahead of next summer’s European Championships will surely sway any January decision.
It is thought that Eriksen wants in the region of £120,000-a-week in order to wave goodbye to Inter.
TBR View – Eriksen is the type of signing Arsenal need in January
Take away the Tottenham connection and the man with 103 caps for Denmark is an ideal signing for the Gunners.
Arsenal are desperate for a world-class creative spark and despite his struggles at Inter, Eriksen would be more than capable of providing that.
The dazzling set-piece specialist knows the Premier League and wouldn’t need any settling in period, which would also be of use to Arsenal.
Arteta knows he has to do something special once again in January and if the money is there, he simply has to go and sign Eriksen.
