Arsenal transfer: Gunners reportedly set to ramp up attempts to sign England man
Arsenal are set to ramp up their efforts to secure a deal for Brighton defender Ben White now that Euro 2020 is over. The centre-back was part of the England squad that reached the final of the competition.
The Gunners are in talks with the Seagulls over a deal that could be worth around £50 million. White is a product of the youth academy at Brighton but could now be on his way out of the club.
The England talent is keen to secure a switch to Arsenal. As a result, personal terms aren’t thought to become an issue between the two parties.
White came of age during a season-long loan at Leeds United during the 2019/20 campaign. Although the Whites wanted to sign him permanently, Brighton were keen to hand him a chance.
During the 2020/21 season, he took his chance to impress Graham Potter. He made 36 appearances and become an integral part of the Seagulls’ team.
Now, a bigger move seems to beckon. Arsenal will hope to improve on their eighth-place finish next season and players like White could help them achieve their goals.
White is an exciting addition to Arsenal ranks
This deal getting concluded would be an exceptional piece of business by the club and would continue their positive start to the transfer window.
White is only 23 and he looks set for a really bright future. Mikel Arteta has a decent history of nurturing younger players and the Brighton man could thrive at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have to kick on during 2021/22 and adding players of White’s ilk will certainly help them achieve their goals.
England might have lost in Sunday’s final, but the centre-back will have taken great confidence from being part of Gareth Southgate’s squad. As a result, Arsenal would be wise to get this deal done sharpish.
