Report: Arsenal to offer Kieran Tierney new deal, duo viewed as integral

A report by The Athletic has claimed that Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are viewed as key elements of the Arsenal squad in the future.

More so, it’s claimed that the Gunners will offer a new contract to Tierney in order to reflect his major importance to Mikel Arteta’s ranks.

It’s been a relatively poor campaign for Arsenal. The club sits ninth in the Premier League and after losing to Villarreal in the semi-final of the Europa League, a return to Europe looks unlikely next season.

Best Benchwarmer At EVERY Premier League Team

Tierney has been a revelation since checking in from Celtic during the summer of 2019. He has made 59 appearances for the club and is viewed by some supporters as a future captain.

During the current campaign, he has featured largely as a left-back but has also showcased the versatility to play at centre-back.

Interestingly, however, Holding and Chambers are also viewed as important figures going forward. Both players have been at the club for some time, without ever really becoming major players in the first-team.

Clearly, enough has been seen of both to impress Arteta, however, and it’ll be interesting to see how they kick on after this show of faith.

TBR View: Tierney news is massive for the Gunners

Arsenal might not be able to sign the very best players this summer but getting Tierney tied to a new deal would be a big plus.

The Gunners will need some reinforcements but it’ll be equally important they don’t lose the best players in place at the club right now.

Tierney earns £80,000-a-week right now and as one of the best, most passionate players at the club, he thoroughly deserves an extension.
