Report: Arsenal to offer Atletico choice of three players in attempt to land Thomas Partey

The Gunners are undeterred in their efforts to sign the Ghana international.

Arsenal are struggling to meet the £45 million release clause in Thomas Partey’s contract and are prepared to offer Atletico Madrid a choice of three players to get their top summer target, according to The Express.

Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira are the three players who Arsenal are prepared to offer to Los Rojiblancos, with a player-plus-cash deal looking viable for the Gunners.

Partey has been instrumental in Diego Simeone’s engine room over the past 12 months, helping the club to the quarter-finals of the Champions League – defeating Liverpool in the process.

The 27-year-old has featured 46 times for Atletico this season and the report suggests they won’t be willing to entertain Arsenal’s proposal of including players in any deal to land Partey.

Atletico want the release clause paid in full and with that in mind, the Gunner will need to try and raise the relevant cash.

Mikel Arteta’s squad could do with streamlining and the departure of fringe players such as Mesut Ozil, Sokratis, Rob Holding, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Matteo Guendouzi could help.

The Gunners ended the 2019/20 campaign in style by winning the FA Cup but next season Arteta will hope to see his team improve on their eighth-place Premier League finish.

Several new additions will probably be identified and it’ll be interesting to see which deals Arsenal can get over the line this summer.

TBR View – Partey could see Arsenal finally land Vieira-type figure

Not since Patrick Vieira left many years ago have Arsenal had what you’d call a midfield general who can dictate the pace of the game from a deep-lying midfield role.

Partey could help change that and his aggressive defensive attributes could give Arsenal a little bit of nastiness that Arteta’s team occasionally lacks, particularly in midfield.
