Report: Arsenal face Buendia repeat thanks to Mourinho despite 'video call talks' being held

Arsenal could miss out on another midfielder player this summer, with Orkan Kokcu now being heavily linked to Roma.

That is according to The Daily Mail, who claim Kokcu is wanted by Jose Mourinho in Rome this summer.

Kokcu is a long-term target for the Gunners. Indeed, the report from the Mail suggests that video call talks have even taken place between the Turkish midfielder and the club.

But while Kokcu is said to be available for a bargain £10m this summer, it looks like Italy is his most likely destination. The 20-year-old is said to have spoken to AC Milan already. Roma, meanwhile, are trying to crash the party.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

Kokcu is seen as one of the top talents in Europe. A diminutive midfielder, he is expected to play a key role for Turkey in the Euros.

Leeds have also kept tabs on Kocku’s progress in recent months.

Currently with Feyenoord, the midfielder is being tipped to seal a big move this summer. Sadly for Arsenal, though, it appears that – like Emi Buendia – Kocku could slip the net.

Arsenal to miss out on Kokcu? The Gunners need to get their act together

While there’s every chance the ship has sailed with Kokcu, it still stinks a bit for the Gunners fans.

With Villa landing Buendia last week, any other near misses aren’t going to go down well. With Kokcu, he is a fine midfield player who would certainly add something to the fold. Further, he’s well within the Gunners’ price range.

The worry for Arsenal here is that a pattern is emerging. How many players will they be linked with, only to see talks seemingly break down? The club simply can’t afford to keep missing out on players.

Mikel Arteta and Edu face a huge few weeks now. Signings are needed, and quickly, otherwise panic buying will set in yet again.
