Arsenal will reportedly make another offer for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamencano in January.

According to The Sun, the Gunners will table a £40 million offer for the young Frenchman, whose contract runs out in the summer of 2021.

Arsenal reportedly (Sport Bild) attempted to sign Upamecano in the summer but were seemingly priced out of a move – they then swooped for David Luiz.

Upamecano remains a target though, despite the fact that William Saliba has already been signed by the north Londoners.

That said, another centre-half at the club is needed with neither David Luiz and Sokratis long-term options.

TBR’s view – £40 million Upamecano would be sensational business

The 20-year-old is a quality player with a very high ceiling and could potentially become one of the world’s top centre-backs one day.

Last term he endured an injury-hit campaign which limited him to 22 appearances in all competitions, but impressed alongside comptriot Ibrahima Konate when he did play and was frequently praised for his brilliant all-round game.

It is unlikely Leipzig would want to sell one of their top assets mid-season but, given his contract situation, Arsenal showing some aggression over the player could pay off.
