Report: Arsenal to make big transfer announcement within next 24 hours

Martin Odegaard has reportedly passed his medical at Arsenal ahead of his loan switch and will be unveiled as a Gunners player in the next 24 hours, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners have been in the market for a new creative midfielder this month as cover for Emile Smith Rowe and to bolster their ranks after Mesut Ozil’s exit.

Odegaard, meanwhile, has struggled for game time at Real Madrid this season, with just nine appearances – five of which have been starts – in 2020-21.

According to Sky Sports, Real Sociedad were keen on re-signing the 22-year-old after his fruitful season-long loan stint last year.

However, it is believed that Real Madrid’s preference was to send the Norwegian prodigy to a club outside La Liga.

A number of Premier League clubs were also reportedly interested in Odegaard, including Leicester.

The Foxes opted not to pursue the Norwegian international after preliminary discussions, wrote Sky Sports.

When reports of Odegaard looking for a loan move first emerged, plenty of Arsenal fans called for the club to join the race for his signature.

Speculation quickly linked the player and the Gunners together, and now it looks as though the only thing left is for the all-important club announcement.

Odegaard is a player of the highest calibre with plenty of potential who is in need of game time, while Arsenal definitely need reinforcements at No. 10 besides ESR – a perfect match.
