Arsenal are reportedly going to hold talks with Gunners duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who want to hear the club’s vision under Mikel Arteta, according to ESPN.

The future of both the Arsenal forwards is currently uncertain, particularly that of Aubameyang, whose contract is up next summer.

If the Gabon international doesn’t sign a new contract soon, the Arsenal boss would have to decide whether to cash in this summer or face losing him next year for little to nothing.

According to ESPN, Arteta is ready to personally involve himself in talks to convince Aubameyang to sign an extension to his contract.

As for Lacazette, his Arsenal contract runs until 2022 but he has also been linked with a departure from the Emirates Stadium.

ESPN claims the Frenchman is not agitating to leave but is seeking assurances on his role under Arteta next season, the boss reportedly being told that player sales will be key to boosting funds to overhaul his squad.

This has led to speculation over Lacazette’s future, with Atletico Madrid reportedly continuing to maintain an interest.

Arsenal know that resolving the situation with their two star strikers is central to wider squad planning but they are privately adamant they will not lose either player, adds the outlet.

TBR View:

With the global health crisis having brought football to a halt for months, there could be huge financial repercussions for the whole industry, and Arsenal are one of the clubs tipped to tighten their belts massively.

Though both Aubameyang and Lacazette are great players, they are also assets that could help the club raise funds to reinvest elsewhere, and of course there is the question of the duo’s personal desires.

If a title challenger – in the Premier League or another major European league – and Champions League competitor was to step in with an offer, could either of their heads be turned? There is certainly a lot to discuss between them and Arteta.
