Arsenal missed out on signing Houssem Aouar during the latest transfer window and could now see Real Madrid scupper their hopes of a move next summer too.
That is according to a report from 90Min, who claim that the Madrid giants want to sign Aouar next summer as Zinedine Zidane targets a 2021 spending spree.

Aouar, who has spoken of his satisfaction at remaining in France, was one of the key targets for Arsenal throughout the summer. The Gunners, though, ended up signing Thomas Partey instead, sealing a hurried deadline day move for the Ghanaian.
However, a move for Aouar is expected to be resurrected in the coming windows. But it appears that the Gunners will now face the stiffest challenge of all from Real Madrid, with Zidane said to be a big fan of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Aouar has impressed immensely at Lyon in recent seasons. It is looking inevitable he will move on eventually. But he could well be unable to resist a move to the Bernabeu, even if Arsenal maintain their interest.
A blow this for Arsenal, Madrid normally get their man – TBR View
Just what the Gunners didn’t need this. Concrete interest in a player they’ve coveted for so long and from a club who normally go all out to get their man.
Madrid have the added bonus of having Zidane in charge too, a player who many look up to within the game.
This could harm Arsenal in the long-term. Aouar is clearly still a priority for them, so for Madrid to now step in represents a massive obstacle they did not need.
