This after Manchester United apparently pulled out of the race as they supposedly line up a bid for AS Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile.

Le10 add that both clubs have had bids of €30 million/£27 million accepted for the Brazilian – it is now up to the player to decide, and that decision is anticipated to come tomorrow.

Gabriel is definitely departing Lille this summer, with club president Gerard Lopez having told BBC Sport ‘we’ve given the OK for that.’

TBR’s View – Gabriel would be a coup for Arsenal

So it seems there is a reasonable chance Gabriel will sign for the Gunners.

Napoli struggled last term and do not have European football to offer the player, whereas Arsenal do after winning the FA Cup and securing entry to the Europa League.

Perhaps since there is already a strong Brazilian contingent at the Emirates in David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli and new signing Willian, there is an even greater lure.

Gabriel would be a fantastic addition for Arsenal as he is very much a centre-half that is comfortable on the ball and able to play out from the back as is Mikel Arteta’s philosophy.
