Arsenal’s hopes of potentially signing Jordan Amavi this summer appear to have been dealt a blow, with Le 10 Sport reporting that the left-back could now sign a new contract with Marseille.
Amavi’s future is currently up in the air. His contract at Stade Velodrome expires at the end of this campaign.

L’Equipe reported in late January that the Gunners were monitoring his situation. It was suggested that they may be interested in signing him on a free transfer in the summer.
That report also noted that talks with the Ligue 1 side over a new deal had stalled.

Le 10 Sport also notes that Arsenal are admirers of the 26-year-old. However, it is suggested that he is closing in on signing a new deal with Marseille.
According to the report, he could now pen a three-year contract.
It may be a blow for Mikel Arteta if Amavi does indeed extend his stay at Marseille. Arsenal do not need a first-choice left-back, so the former Aston Villa man may have been ideal.
The January reports did divide some of the Arsenal fans. But he would have arguably been a solid backup option for Kieran Tierney ahead of next season – particularly as he would have arrived on a free transfer.
However, it now appears that he is not going to be going anywhere.
