Report: Arsenal target deemed the ‘new Milinkovic-Savic’ agitating for move, £18m price tag

Reported Arsenal target Dominik Szoboszlai is agitating for a move away and, while his club won’t stand in his way, they won’t let him go for less than £18million, according to Calciomercato.

The Sun reported in late April that the Gunners are in the race to snap up the Red Bull Salzburg midfielder, along with Leicester City, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Calciomercato, meanwhile, previously linked the Hungary international with Juve, Inter, AC Milan and Lazio, who had reportedly dubbed him the new Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Szoboszlai was signed by the Austrian giants in March 2017 from Fehervar FC, then known as Videoton FC.

The 19-year-old then spent the first half of the 2017-18 season with Austrian second division club Liefering, where he registered an impressive 16 goals and 11 assists from just 42 first-team appearances.

Now an established member of Salzburg’s first team, Szoboszlai has made 50 first-team appearances, scoring nine goals and registering 13 assists in all competitions.

According to the latest Calciomercato report, the Hungarian “is sending important signals, asking more and more insistently about the possibility of leaving the Austrian championship and making the leap to the elite of European football”.

The report claims that, while Salzburg won’t stand in Szoboszlai’s way, they won’t let him go for any less than 20million Euro (£18million).

Red Bull Salzburg have been a hotbed of talent this season, with Takumi Minamino and Erling Braut Haaland both moving to bigger clubs in January.

Hwang Hee-chan, meanwhile, has been previously linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers and “a number of rival Premier League and European clubs” by The Telegraph.

Szoboszlai is also a high-calibre player, with an impressive CV for club and country – already capped eight times – seeing him compared with the likes of Milinkovic-Savic and Toni Kroos.

While the Hungarian is reportedly keen on a move to Italy, agent Matyas Esterhazy is quoted by The Sun as saying: “There are some great options and England is definitely a very good one for the future.”
