Arsenal may have reached an agreement with Arthur Melo as they pursue a loan move for the Brazilian, but Tuttomercatoweb reports that talks with Juventus have stalled due to the Old Lady struggling to find a replacement.

Arthur had looked set to join Mikel Arteta’s men this month. In fact, it was suggested that there was a growing feeling that the 25-year-old was set to move to the Emirates.

And it does indeed appear that Arthur is ready to bolster the midfield options at Arsenal. Tuttomercatoweb reports that he has personally agreed to join the Gunners on loan.

However, talks with Juventus have stalled. Tuttomercatoweb claims that Juve have encountered several obstacles in their push to sign a replacement.

Unless a signing comes in, Juventus are seemingly set to keep Arthur.

Arsenal need to push ahead for other targets with Gunners powerless to stop Juventus keeping Arthur

The situation is out of Arsenal’s hands. The onus is on Juventus to find a replacement for Arthur. But clearly, they would be content to keep the former Barcelona man.

He has played eight times in Serie A this term. So he is a player Max Allegri must value. And he may not mind if Arthur ends up staying rather than moving to Arsenal.

Arsenal therefore, need to press on with looking elsewhere. It would be a gamble for Mikel Arteta to let the window shut without strengthening his midfield options.

They will have Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny back from international duty in the coming weeks. But Arthur is not only another option in the middle of the park, but he is also a player with real quality.

Arsenal can continue to monitor what is happening with Arthur. But it would seemingly be beneficial for the Gunners to switch their focus elsewhere while Juve struggle to make a signing of their own.
