Arsenal have taken a step forward to sign Neto from Barcelona, Mundo Deportivo claim.
Arsenal determined
They say that Arsenal are determined to bank on Neto as their new stopper for next campaign.
Apparently Mikel Arteta is attracted to the Barcelona stopper, as he has better ball skills than Arsenal’s current options, which could be important with the Spaniard wanting to build from the back.
Spurs also keen?
The problem for the Gunners is that the report also claims Tottenham Hotspur are interested.
Now, Spurs are on the verge of signing their own new number one in Pierluigi Gollini, so their interest may be short lived.
But Arsenal still aren’t close to bringing in the new goalkeeper they want to compete with Bernd Leno.

That means that they may well be the favourites to land Neto at this point.
If Arsenal can agree a fee with Barcelona, then landing him shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Neto is said to be attracted to the Premier League and the report says he would join either Arsenal or Spurs if the opportunity presented itself.
Neto apparently wants to join a team who guarantee him minutes, after struggling to break into Barca’s starting line-up.
His arrival would give Arsenal a more proven back up option than Alex Runarsson, and that would surely be important in case Leno does suffer an injury.
