Report: Arsenal striker target Plea working on exit

The agent of reported Arsenal target Alassane Plea is working on sealing a move for the striker this summer, according to Foot Mercato.

Plea was linked with a move to the Emirates back in April. It was claimed by the Daily Mail that he could leave Borussia Monchengladbach for £15 million.

It proved to be a frustrating season for the Bundesliga side. They finished eighth in the top flight having qualified for the Champions League the year before.

And Plea did not have the best campaign in front of goal. He actually ended the season with 10 goals in all competitions.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

However, his record of six strikes in 29 league games is certainly underwhelming.

Nevertheless, it appears that he could soon be on his way to the Premier League.

Foot Mercato is reporting that his agent is working on getting him out of his current club. And it is suggested that a move to England is a possibility.

It must be said that Arsenal are not mentioned by Foot Mercato. But given previous reports, it would perhaps be little surprise if they are contacted by his agent in the coming weeks.

Plea an uninspiring striker target for Arsenal

While Plea did endure a tough year in the top flight, his Champions League record was superb.

He scored five goals and provided four assists in the competition.

That perhaps hints that he could prove to be a surprise-package if he indeed makes a £15 million move this summer.

The 28-year-old can play in a variety of attacking roles and has contributed a lot of assists during his career.

But a move would not address all of Arsenal’s problems in the final third – if they did sign him.

It may be a shrewd move, but it would not be a particularly inspiring one from the Gunners.
