Spain’s two biggest clubs are jostling to sign Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to The Daily Star.
Barcelona are leading Real Madrid in the race to sign Aubameyang. The Gabon striker is reportedly considering his options rather than committing his future to Arsenal with a new deal.
This report adds that Aubameyang is hesitating on signing a new contract due to the manager situation. He is unsure that Unai Emery is the right man to take Arsenal forward.
Aubameyang’s situation has alerted Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both clubs want to take the rapid striker to Spain. He has previously played in France and Germany, as well as having a short stint in Italy, so this will be a new challenge.
The 30-year-old is a firm fan favourite in North London, though. Since his move from Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang has scored 50 goals and provided 12 assists in just 80 matches. This includes 40 goals in 62 Premier League games.
Arsenal will be desperate to keep their captain at the club but might need to sack Emery to do so. Until then, Aubameyang is reluctant to sign a new contract.
Arsenal fans will make this very clear; they would rather have Aubameyang leading the line than keeping Emery. The board need to show some ambition to their star striker.
At this stage of his career, Aubameyang needs to make the right choice. If he is not convinced things will improve at Arsenal soon, it might be wise for him to depart.
