Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is reportedly on the brink of leaving the Gunners as soon as Dani Ceballos returns on loan to the Emirates Stadium, according to Italian outlet Labaro Viola.

The Uruguay international made 29 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring once and creating one assist, but has been linked with a move away from Arsenal for a number of months.

Labaro Viola claims that a deal between Arsenal and Fiorentina has already been agreed for Torreira.

This would see the Italian club pay the Gunners €8million (£7million) as a loan fee for this season, with a €16million (£14million) obligatory purchase clause to make the transfer permanent, according to the report.

However, the deal’s completion reportedly hinges on Ceballos being loaned to Arsenal once again, and Labaro Viola claims Real Madrid haven’t made up their mind yet.

TBR View:

Torreira has done well enough for Arsenal since his arrival from Sampdoria in 2018 but most of his game time after the return of English football came off the bench.

In addition, the player hasn’t appeared overly settled in England – he admitted in 2019 that he missed life in Italy as he criticised the weather in Britain, as reported by Goal.com.

Having paid around £26million for Torreira, Arsenal would fall short of recouping the £75,000-a-week man’s transfer fee, but in the current market, it’s not entirely unexpected.
