Report: Arsenal stepping up interest in Emi Buendia, Leeds recently linked
Goal have claimed that Arsenal sporting director Edu is to step up Arsenal’s pursuit of Norwich City playmaker Emi Buendia ahead of the summer window with doubts over the future of Martin Odegaard – but Leeds could also be in the mix.
Buendia, 24, has starred for Norwich during the 2020-21 campaign as the Canaries bounced back into the Premier League at the first attempt under Daniel Farke. Buendia was crucial to that, having a hand in 32 goals during his 39 league outings.
The Argentine scored 15 goals and created 17 more and Goal claim that Edu has stepped up his pursuit of the player, with Buendia keen on a move to The Emirates. A fee of £40million is said to be required to tempt Norwich into cashing in.
Foot Mercato recently reported that Leeds, West Ham, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also interested in Buendia – but a move to Arsenal could just blow the aforementioned quartet out of the water. No bid has been made, as of yet.
TBR’s view – Which club suits Buendia the most?
Well, Leeds are crying out for a number 10. Tyler Roberts has been hit and miss, Rodrigo is preferred up front and has struggled with numerous injuries. Adding Buendia would give them that 10, but also cover on the flanks.
Aston Villa might want to bring in a replacement for Ross Barkley who has struggled, while Crystal Palace may want to beef up their attacking options. West Ham have numerous players like Buendia, but Manuel Lanzini could leave this summer.
But surely, a move to Arsenal – where they could need a number 10 if Odegaard leaves – is a no-brainer for Buendia.
