The Chronicle claim Arsenal ace Joe Willock could undergo a medical at Newcastle ‘early in the week’. Both clubs have agreed a fee for the £25million-rated ace who starred for the Toon on loan. Personal terms remain an obstacle for Newcastle, but a move is edging closer.

Willock, 21, joined Newcastle on loan for the second half of last season – scoring eight goals in 14 appearances. But a permanent move was a tricky deal to get done, with the Toon lacking in financial additions this summer. However, it is believed his form has convinced Newcastle’s board to spend.

Now, the Chronicle says the two clubs have agreed a permanent fee for the midfielder – which is believed to be in the region of £25million. The report says a medical could take place ‘early in the week’, with Willock potentially travelling north within 24 hours of the article, on Sunday evening.

Arsenal ace Willock a stunning Newcastle signing, amid medical

It cannot be underestimated just how good a signing this is for Newcastle. Not only are the club spending a sizeable amount of money, but they are bringing in a player that has already shown he can take Newcastle forward. Last season, he was unbelievable for the Toon, scoring plenty of goals.

It is an exciting moment for Newcastle fans. He really is a stunning signing. Even if he does cost as much as £25million, a good couple of seasons would see that price double. It is a move that suits all parties – but Newcastle fans will be hoping it is just the start.
