Report: Arsenal & Spurs suffer blow over £125k-p/w target, UCL club open contract talks
Inter Milan have finally held a meeting with Ivan Perisic over a new contract, with the attacker being eyed by Arsenal and Tottenham
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the UEFA Champions League club have met with the Croatian international over signing a new deal with the Nerazzurri. Inter have been trying to tie Perisic down to a new contract but to no avail.
As per the report, Inter are eager to lower Perisic’s wage whilst the winger wants an increase to his salary, a problem that was the cause behind the lack of contract talks between the winger and Inter, with the Croat already earning a reported £125,000-a-week.
However, the two parties have now met for discussions in what could be a huge boost for Inter, with Arsenal and Tottenham both reportedly interested in a move for Perisic in the summer transfer window.

According to the Mirror, both north London clubs are chasing the 32-year-old attacker, with Chelsea also interested in the veteran Serie A star who can also play at wing-back, something that would appeal to Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel.
Indeed, Perisic would be an ideal utility player in the Premier League for a top side, yet this news that contract talks are underway between the winger and Inter is a hammer blow for both Arsenal and Tottenham.
Inter now in the driving seat to keep Perisic after contract update
Arsenal and Tottenham both have separate cases as to why Perisic would have been a solid signing for them, more so for Spurs given the player’s links to Conte, yet with Inter now in talks with their attacker, the Serie A giants are easily the favourites to retain the forward.
With the former Bayern Munich star a regular for the Italian side and hitting the peak years of his career, Inter could bend to Perisic’s contract demands, which will be a huge blow for Arsenal and Tottenham.
