Arsenal had shown interest in signing Andrea Petagna this summer, with Calciomercato reporting that the Gunners felt that the 25-year-old would be perfect for the Premier League.
Petagna will have his eyes set on making his debut for Napoli having moved to Stadio San Paolo during the January transfer window.

The striker spent the season with SPAL – returning on loan following his winter switch – and scored 12 goals in 36 Serie A games as the club were relegated.
Despite the relegation, it appears that Napoli are not the only side who admire the Italy international.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal have registered an interest in Petagna in recent times having watched him for some time. It was suggested that Mikel Arteta had looked at the forward amid doubts over the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
However, the report adds that Napoli have no interest in letting him leave.
Petagna’s time with SPAL has shown that he has the quality to shine at the highest level. He leaves having scored 28 goals in 66 top flight games across two years with the club.
TBR View: Arsenal will surely look elsewhere
Of course, Napoli’s stance could change should they receive a huge bid for Petagna. But it would be little surprise to see Arsenal now look elsewhere.
Arteta arguably has bigger issues to address. He does already have a number of exciting attacking players. So, while signing Petagna may have been beneficial, it was surely not essential.
It would be a big shock therefore, to see Arsenal follow up on their interest.
