Arsenal are on the verge of signing Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli, after months of speculation.
Globo Esporte are now reporting that Gunners are set to complete a £6 million deal for the forward, with a five-year deal having been agreed.
The Ituano ace enjoyed a great season in 2018/19, making 31 appearances and scoring 10 goals and making six assists.
The fairly reliable Globo state that the deal should be done and dusted ‘in the coming days’, and so it would be reasonable to expect an official club announcement some time this week.
Martinelli should become the club’s first signing of the summer.
Martinelli has a very bright future, and a £6 million fee could be a great long-term investment.
Many a Brazilian has played for Arsenal down the years to varying degrees of success, and the club would have high hopes for the starlet, who turns 18 today.
Martinelli had trials with Manchester United and Barcelona when he was younger, suggesting the north London giants are securing themselves a gem.
A rapid and versatile attacker, Martinelli has the potential to reinvigorate Arsenal in the wide areas, with Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan having disappointed of late.
