Report: Arsenal set to ramp up pursuit of Brentford winger Said Benrahma

Arsenal are set to ramp up their efforts to bring in Brentford winger, Said Benrahma, with 90Min reporting that the Gunners are now willing to meet the £25m asking-price for the Algerian.

The report claims Benrahma is going to be targeted by Mikel Arteta, who is set to press forward with his efforts to bring in the tricky winger.

Along with Benrahma, the Gunners are also said to be eyeing Bees stopper, David Raya, although Emi Martinez could sign a new deal while Bernd Leno is also cemented at the club.

But it is the deal for Benrahma which will catch the eye of Gunners fans. The 25-year-old was in exceptional form last season and scored 17 times as the Bees narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

That failure to win at Wembley has led to rumours surrounding a number of top Brentford stars, with Ollie Watkins and Rico Henry among other names being touted for moves to the Premier League.

Arsenal haven’t made big moves as yet this summer but are set to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

Arsenal have a number of talented players in their ranks but they don’t really have anyone in the mould of Benrahma.

The Algerian is similar in style to his fellow countryman, Riyad Mahrez, who has a knack of being able to turn defenders inside out and create chances from nothing. Indeed, ten assists last season demonstrate Benrahma’s ability to create.

At just £25m, he could be a bargain in today’s market and give the Gunners an option out wide that you could say they are currently missing.
