Arsenal may move a step closer to their first signing of the January transfer window in the next few days, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting that talks over a loan move for Arthur Melo will be reignited on Monday.
Gunners fans will be hoping that the final days of the month bring about a busy period for the club. Arsenal go into this break having not won in 2022 in any competition. They have also not scored a goal in their last four.

It would be a surprise therefore, if Mikel Arteta’s men let the deadline pass without a new signing coming in. And of course, one of the players most heavily linked with a move has been Arthur.
In fact, it was reported this weekend that Arsenal had agreed to take Arthur on an 18-month loan.

That may have been premature, judging by the latest reports. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Arsenal are prepared to take the 25-year-old on loan for the rest of the season. They are also willing to cover his full wages should he move to the Emirates.
Juve would prefer an 18-month loan with an obligation to buy. But Tuttomercatoweb suggests that fresh talks between Arsenal and Arthur are set to be held on Monday.
Arsenal need boost of new signing after poor run with Arthur talks ahead
Arthur has not had the best time with Juventus. And he previously struggled to live up to expectations with Barcelona before his £44.5 million move.
But Arsenal need more quality in the middle of the park. And he is a player who is featuring regularly for Juve – even if starts have been rare.
Arsenal have only played two Premier League games in January, and one was against Manchester City. But the result against Burnley should set the alarm bells ringing.
Getting a deal done for Arthur or another target now looks to be imperative. So it will be interesting to see if Arsenal are now more determined to reach a compromise.
