On Tuesday afternoon, the outlet claimed that ‘an important meeting between the parties could already take place in the next few hours’.

‘Above all, (it’s) Arsenal that have their sights set on Hickey’, added the report.

The outlet reiterates that Bologna want a fee of €20m (around £17m) for the Scotland prodigy.

Earlier on in the day, Corriere di Bologna – via Sport Witness – claimed Arsenal wanted to sign Hickey ‘as a replacement for the disappointing Nuno Tavares’.

Hickey moved to Serie A in September 2020 after impressing for Hearts in Scotland.

Since his move to Bologna, he has impressed further, closing in on 50 appearances for the Italian outfit.

Hickey has certainly proven himself both in Scotland and in Italy, looking ready for a Premier League club to take him on.

Branded as a ‘terrific’ player previously, Hickey would fit Arsenal well.

He is young, very talented, has a high ceiling, and is versatile, able to play on both flanks and as a left winger too.

And for £17million, Hickey wouldn’t break the bank for the Gunners either.

Arsenal also have decent relations with Bologna already, having snapped up Takehiro Tomiyasu last summer.
