Arsenal have not given up their pursuit of Real Madrid ace Martin Odegaard.

What’s the story?

According to football.london, the Norwegian play-maker is still open for a move back to the Emirates Stadium.

Los Blancos are open to offers for the midfielder despite the fact he wants to stay in Spain.

Odegaard’s current contract expires next summer meaning he could be available on the cheap during this window.

News earlier in the month said Carlo Ancelotti had decided to keep the Norway international. However, it seems there is still a chance the 22-year-old could return to north London this summer.

Odegaard would be an astute piece of business

Odegaard would be an astute piece of business for Arsenal for the right price.

Reports earlier in the transfer window claimed the Spanish giants were demanding £51.6m for the ace. Given the fact that Arsenal are allegedly on their way to spending £50m for Ben White, a move in that price range seems unrealistic.

Money could be a big issue for the Gunners this summer.

Arsenal reportedly had to take out a loan from the Bank of England to help cover costs hampered by the recent pandemic. The club have only recently paid it off following the end of last season.

Arteta also needs to sign a right-back, central midfielder and potentially a striker. Spending over £100m on two players would not be the wisest decision in a summer where a variety of positions need filling.
