Arsenal appear to have received a potential boost in their pursuit of Mikel Arteta, with The Sun reporting that Pep Guardiola has identified a replacement for the Spaniard should he leave Manchester City.
The Sun reports that Arteta is one of the leading contenders for the Gunners job. The 37-year-old spent the latter years of his playing career at the Emirates.

And his time working under Guardiola at the Etihad appears to have ensured that his stock is high as he looks for his first management job.
And it seems that Guardiola will not stand in Arteta’s way if Arsenal come calling and he wants to go. The Sun reports that the City boss would be happy to bring back his former assistant Domenec Torrent as Arteta’s replacement.

Torrent has worked with Guardiola at every club he has managed, including Barcelona B.
He left Guardiola’s side to work at New York City in the wake of Patrick Vieira’s departure. However, he departed the Major League Soccer side last month.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal decide to pursue Arteta. But it may be good news for his admirers that a stumbling block appears to have been cleared.
Despite Arteta’s current position, it still looks to be a potential gamble to target him. If he is able to communicate his message as well as Guardiola does however, then it could be a masterstroke.
