Report: Arsenal readying offer for midfielder Mesut Ozil has tipped to become a 'world star'
Arsenal have reportedly started the process to sign Fenerbahce’s Arda Guler this summer.
The Gunners were linked with the 17-year-old back in April.
At the time, Fanatik reported that Arsenal were sending scouts to watch Guler in action against Galatasaray.
Fenerbahce reportedly value Guler – who recently penned a new contract until 2025 – at £25million.
Aksam further add that Arsenal could afford paying the fee as they insist on adding him to their squad.
As well as the Gunners, the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly eyeing Guler too.
Guler, one of the most highly-rated teenagers in world football, joined the Fenerbahce academy in 2019.
At the start of the 2021-22 campaign, they promoted him to their first team.
Guler finished the campaign with three goals and three assists from 16 appearances in all competitions.
Former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is a huge fan of his teammate.
“A super goal and a super assist. Quality,” Ozil said after Guler shone in March’s 5-2 win over Alanyaspor.
“You will be a world star.”
One fan even deemed Guler “the Turkish Messi”, as per Goal.com.
He certainly sounds like a good shout for Arsenal, but he’d likely start off in the Under-23s.
This would probably be the case if he joined any of the other big suitors too.
So it’d come down to which club can offer him the best pathway to the first team.
