Report: Arsenal ready to make £20m bid for Youri Tielemans
Arsenal are ready to make a £20 million bid to beat Newcastle United to signing of Youri Tielemans during the January transfer window, according to a report from Sport in Spain.
The situation surrounding Tielemans’ future looks set to come to a head in the coming months. His contract with Leicester City expires at the end of the season. And it appears that he is not going to sign an extension with the Foxes.
No side has probably been more heavily linked with the Belgian than the Gunners. Reports from The Sun in May claimed that Mikel Arteta’s men were growing increasingly confident of a deal ahead of the summer.
Arsenal ready to make Tielemans bid
Obviously, Tielemans would stay put. But it would appear that Arsenal may now be prepared to make a bid to ensure that he ends up at the Emirates.
According to a report from Sport, the Gunners are willing to make a £20 million bid for Tielemans next month.
There is interest from the Magpies and Barcelona. But it would appear that Arsenal hope to steal a march on their rivals.
Arsenal certainly need to sign a new midfielder when the window opens. The trio of Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard and Granit Xhaka have been superb this season. But depth is arguably a concern.
Tielemans is an ‘incredible‘ talent. His form has arguably dipped since the speculation over his future began. But at 25, his best years are probably still ahead of him.
And if he moves to Arsenal, he will be playing in a side which is absolutely thriving and only moving in one direction.
It seems a good price for Leicester. So it would make sense if Arsenal did get a deal across the line should they make such a bid for Tielemans in January.
