As per the report, Arsenal will pay Anderlecht €17.5m (£15m) for Lokonga. The deal could potentially reach €22.5m (£18.9m) if the Gunners met certain clauses in add ons.

The central midfielder has been linked with a move to Arsenal since the start of the window. And now, it appears the Gunners have got their man.

Lokonga could be the first player the Gunners announce as a new signing. Mikel Arteta’s side are also close to adding Benfica defender Nuno Tavares and Brighton and Hove Albion star Ben White to their ranks according to the Athletic.

As well as new signings, Arsenal are likely to sell some players in the coming weeks.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka are close to leaving the club. Lucas Torreira could also depart north London this summer.

Lokonga will be an excellent addition to Arsenal

Indeed, with multiple midfielders leaving the club this summer, Arsenal are in need of replacement. And Lokonga could be a great purchase for the Gunners given his age and potential.

Moreover, the youngster won plenty of plaudits in Belgium for his ability and all-around quality. And at 21, Lokonga can only get better under Arteta and playing alongside exceptional players such as Thomas Partey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
