Report: Arsenal put 11 players up for sale, but only confident of getting bids for two of them
Arsenal have put 11 players up for sale but are confident of receiving bids for just two of them, The Sun claim.
The clear out
Mikel Arteta appears to be planning a complete clear out at the Emirates Stadium after what was a disappointing campaign last term.
Arsenal finished in a mid-table spot, despite improving after January, and their squad showed plenty of signs of weakness.
But Arteta is aiming to rebuild and selling players will now be key.
Unfortunately Arsenal already have struggled to offload numerous fringe players, despite putting them up for sale.
The Sun claim that Arsenal are prepared to sell a full team, with Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka, Bernd Leno, Willian, Sead Kolasinac, Joe Willock, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira, Eddie Nketiah, Reisss Nelson and Cedric Soares all up for grabs.
However, Arsenal feel that the market could be a slow one this summer.
And they think that bids will only come in for Willock and Xhaka.
On the way out?
In terms of their more controversial sales, Willock and Xhaka could be two of them.
Willock proved his worth on loan at Newcastle United last term, where he netted seven goals in seven games – which is more than any Arsenal midfielder produced.
Xhaka, meanwhile, showed real class at Euro 2020 with Switzerland.
And while there are some doubts over his mobility, he played such a key role for Arsenal last term, that he may not be the easiest player to replace.
