Arsenal are preparing a second bid as they look to lure Lyon into selling midfielder, Houssem Aouar.
Mikel Arteta is determined to land a new midfielder this summer and has identified Aouar, along with Atletico’s Thomas Partey, as key targets in his summer recruitment drive.
The Gunners apparently saw their opening bid in the region of £32m knocked back by the French outfit prior to this weekend. But now, Football.London claims a second bid is going to go in, with the fee to be increased to £36.5m, plus, just shy of £10m in add-ons.
This would mean an increase of around £18m on their initial offer and would be closer to the valuation Lyon hold for Aouar, which is said to be closer to the £50m+ mark.
Aoaur is apparently open to a move to the The Emirates, too. That will given Mikel Arteta a further boost and with Lucas Torreira seemingly on his way to Atletico Madrid, some money should be available.
Looking like a case of when and not if for Aouar – TBR View
Another name that has rumbled on throughout this window but Arsenal appear to finally heading in the right direction when it comes to sealing the transfer of Aouar.
The Frenchman is a brilliant footballer too, and fits right in with the way Arsenal play. He’ll add quality, creativity, goals and bite to the midfield area, something Arteta has been keen to strengthen.
Even at £50m – that’s what it does end up costing – this could end up being a big bargain in the long-term for Arsenal.
