Arsenal endured the nightmare start against Brentford on Friday evening, but the board are still willing to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.
After only signing Albert Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, and Ben White this summer, the pressure is on Edu and Arteta to make more signings. The defeat at Brentford on Friday has only heightened fan calls for those new additions, too.

But rather than put pressure on Arteta, the Mirror claims the Arsenal board are willing to back the Spaniard in the market. They suggest that the Gunners could be about to sign as many as three new players before the window shuts.
Aaron Ramsdale remains the first-choice goalkeeper option. In midfield, Martin Odegaard is being heavily pursued. Both players have an asking-price around the £35m mark.
And beyond that, The Mirror suggests that the Gunners could also still go for a new striker. Arsenal missed out on Tammy Abraham this week, while Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez are expensive options.
TBR’s View: Risky move by Arsenal but they have to do something
It’s admirable that the Arsenal board are backing Arteta. It shows they aren’t panicking, and do have some sort of long-term plan.
But, it is also a risk. If they do give Arteta more money here, then sack him soon, it could be back to square one. With Ramsdale and Odegaard, plus a striker, it’s an outlay of more than £70m minimum.
Arsenal need to get this right in the coming weeks. It could shape their season, and the pressure is really on Edu now.
