Arsenal are preparing to offer Joe Willock or Reiss Nelson to Norwich City as they ramp up their efforts to land Emi Buendia.
According to the Independent, the Gunners are eyeing a player plus cash deal in an attempt to land the Argentine.
Norwich value Buendia in the region of £40 million but Arsenal hope offering a player could lower the cash outlay.
The Canaries are top of the Championship and that is largely down to the form of the 24-year-old.
He has fired seven goals and seven assists from his 19 games this season, including the winner in Saturday’s game against Barnsley.
Arsenal have won their last three Premier League games but Mikel Arteta is still keen to add creativity to his ranks.
Buendia signed for Norwich in 2018 from Cultural Leonesa and he’s proved a massive hit in England.
His 32 assists in 99 appearances have seen him become a fan favourite and the forward also knows where the net is.
The right-winger would bolster Arsenal’s ranks and they seem to be exploring every possible avenue to complete a deal.
Some supporters might be surprised to see Nelson and Willock among the names to be offered to Norwich.
Willock, in particular, has been excellent in Europe this season and at 21 he could still improve.
TBR View – Buendia could be exciting Arsenal addition
The tricky winger would bring flamboyance, hard work and real creative quality to the Arsenal team.
With Nicolas Pepe flattering to deceive the 24-year-old could be the perfect signing to pile some pressure on him.
Buendia has played in the Premier League before and that experience could set him up nicely for an Arsenal move.
Some fans might be disappointed that Willock and Nelson haven’t managed to win a proper chance under Arteta.
Ultimately if they aren’t going to play, however, Arsenal might as well use their departures to their advantage.
If offering Norwich one, or both, of the players, helped them land Buendia then it could prove to be solid business by the Gunners.
