According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are planning to try and loan Mesut Ozil out during the January transfer window – if the 30-year-old is willing to leave the Emirates.
Ozil’s future in North London has been a talking point for some time. The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners attempted to offload the Germany international on loan during the summer, but Fenerbahce were the only side to show serious interest. The Turkish club were unable to finance a deal.

Unai Emery continues to keep Ozil closer to the periphery of his squad. And the report suggests that Arsenal will attempt to send him out on loan when the winter window opens.
The Mirror reports that Arsenal would rather loan Ozil out and pay some of his £350,000-a-week wages than keep him when he is unlikely to play much.

Unfortunately, it may not only be the finances of a deal that scupper the Gunners’ chances of moving Ozil on. The Mirror warns that the former Real Madrid man could decide that does not want to leave.
TBR’s View
It seems like an incredibly long time since Ozil was contributing 19 assists in one Premier League season. There are still flashes of his brilliance coming through. But he is nowhere near as influential under Emery.
With that in mind, it looks to be best for all parties that Ozil secures a move away. Even if Arsenal can get another club to pay a quarter of his wages, that is almost £90,000-a-week on the wage bill that is being freed up for the second-half of the campaign.
