Reiss Nelson may have already made his final appearance for Arsenal, with Football London reporting that the 21-year-old is likely to leave the club permanently next summer.

Nelson is currently out on loan. He joined Feyenoord in the summer despite featuring in the Gunners’ opening game of the campaign at Brentford.

He was on the bench against Chelsea. But he was nowhere to be seen for the trip to Manchester City. And shortly after, he sealed a loan move to the Netherlands.

The attacking midfielder is actually awaiting the chance to make his full Eredivisie debut. But he has still managed to make a significant impact.

It was his assist that helped Feyenoord score the only goal in their win over AZ Alkmaar.

Football London notes that he extended his contract before leaving on loan. However, that was seemingly done simply to ensure that he did not leave on a free next summer.

That is because the report is claiming that he is likely to leave the Emirates permanently at the end of the campaign.

Arsenal unlikely to be shutting door entirely on Reiss Nelson

The report’s notion that he is likely to leave seemingly makes sense. As things stand, it is hard to see a pathway to regular game-time for Nelson in North London.

However, it would appear that Arsenal have not shut the door completely just yet. Should he go on an amazing run in the Netherlands, the Gunners would be foolish not to consider holding onto the academy graduate.

He has plenty of work to do. But Arsenal are also aware of just how talented he is.
