Report: Arsenal open talks to sign £17m Lyon midfielder
Goal claim that Arsenal are in talks to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer. Lyon are desperate to offload a number of playrs in order to balance the books this season, after failing to reach Europe. Arsenal are looking to take advantage, with Edu a long-time fan of Bruno.
The 23-year-old has spent 18 months at Lyon after joining the club from Atletico Paranense – clocking up 46 appearances in that time. He has certainly caught the eye, with Edu trying to get him before Lyon spent £17million to sign the one-time Brazil international.
Now, Arsenal are going back in for Bruno. The report claims Arsenal have already held talks with Lyon – though at an early stage. It is believed that Lyon are ready to cash in on the midfielder given their tricky financial position. Arsenal need midfielders, with Granit Xhaka likely to leave.
Bruno a solid signing, despite Arsenal getting Lokonga
With Dani Ceballos returning to Madrid, Mo Elneny in the final year of his contract, Matteo Guendouzi joining Marseille and both Xhaka and Lucas Torreira likely to leave – Arsenal need more than just one midfielder. Lokonga looks an exciting signing, but they need at least one more.
Bruno is more of a progressive midfielder than Lokonga. Ideal for the engine room, he is excellent in possession and looks to get the ball forward. But whether Arsenal get him depends on his asking price. Previous reports suggest from FC Inter News suggests he could be worth £25.5million.
