Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Chinese Super League star Yannick Carrasco. According to Sport, Carrasco is edging closer to a return to Europe with a move to Arsenal likely.
The Gunners tried to sign Carrasco in January. According to Calcio Mercato, Carrasco was willing to take a pay cut to force through a move from Dalian Yifang to Arsenal.
Carrasco left Atletico Madrid to join Dalian Yifang in February 2018. But he is already keen to leave China after 36 games, 14 goals and 11 assists.
The skilful attacking midfielder plays on the wing or as a central attacking midfielder, making him a useful versatile option for Arsenal.
Unai Emery is desperate to bring in reinforcements to bolster his squad for next season. After a fifth-place finish and the Europa League final loss, Arsenal need to perform better in 2019/20.
Emery wants players who can provide service for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Carrasco is a top target for this role.
The 25-year-old scored 23 goals and provided 17 assists in 124 Atletico Madrid games after chalking up a tally of 20 goals and 24 assists in 103 Monaco matches.
He has proven himself in France, Spain and China. But now he is keen to test himself in England. Arsenal look set to sign the Belgium international after their attempts fell flat in January.
