Report: Arsenal offered Nabil Fekir for just £30 million

Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Nabil Fekir for £30 million, as reported by The Mirror.

The French ace is widely expectedly to leave Lyon this summer, having come within a whisker of departing a year ago.

The World Cup winner was on the verge of joining Liverpool for around £53 million (The Telegraph) – but the move collapsed at the medical stage.

Fekir then remained with Lyon for the 2018/19 campaign, as Liverpool went on to win the Champions League.

In May, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas stated that Fekir would be allowed to leave the club this summer (via Goal), and apparently the Gunners could now be a destination for the 25-year-old.

TBR’s view

Fekir is a quality player but the Gunners surely have to be thinking about strengthening their defence first.

The attacker’s valuation may have come down considerably but arguably it is still a fair bit of money considering Arsenal’s shoestring budget.

That said, there were reports (Sky Sports) on Monday that the club had lodged a £40 million bid for Wilfried Zaha, suggesting there could be funds available for Fekir if they wanted to do a deal.

Perhaps if Zaha was unattainable then Fekir could be an alternative. He has the ability to play on the right wing, with Mesut Ozil likely to operate as a number 10 and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wide left.
