Arsenal have shaken things up behind the scenes this week with the departure of head of football Raul Sanllehi this weekend. But it appears one of the last things the former chief tried to achieve before his Arsenal exit was the exit of Mesut Ozil.
At least, that is what a report from Turkey would suggest.
Fotospor is claiming that Arsenal sent a communication to Galatasaray asking whether the Turkish giants would be interested in the signature of Mesut Ozil. The report added that Sanllehi signed the letter himself and that contact arrangements for Ozil and his representatives were enclosed.

However, the report also states that, after reaching out to Galatasaray for comment, the Turkish side are not currently in any talks regarding Ozil’s signing.
It would be a surprise to see Galatasaray snap up Ozil, despite the German international’s apparent desire to play in Turkey. Gala is no longer in the financial position they have been in the past when the likes of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder headed to Istanbul.
Arsenal are clearly hoping to get Ozil off their books this season. As reported by Eurosport, among others, the German is on £350,000-a-week in North London and he spoke this week regarding a potential exit.
But it seems that one potential option, in Galatasaray, is closed and that Arsenal will need to keep hunting for a suitable buyer.
