Arsenal are now in talks with Sheffield United over signing Aaron Ramsdale from them, the Athletic suggest.
Arsenal are said to be interested in the stopper who is currently at Euro 2020 with England.
This interest is now thought to be very genuine, with the Gunners contacting Sheffield United over doing a deal in recent days.
It is claimed in the Athletic that Arsenal are prepared to pay a significant fee for Ramsdale, with the club believing that he can play a big role for them in future years.
That appears to be a big show of faith in Ramsdale from Arsenal.
Pickford praise
The 23-year-old, who has just been hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Jordan Pickford (England official channel), has now been relegated from the Premier League twice in his first two regular seasons at the level.
However, his own performances suggest that he does have a top flight future.

Ramsdale actually struggled in his first few months after moving to Sheffield United from Bournemouth.
But his form towards the end of the campaign was impressive and Arsenal obviously took that on board.
With doubts over Bernd Leno’s future, Ramsdale could actually arrive at Arsenal as first choice.
And if that was to be the case he would be under pressure to ensure that he started quickly, after what would be the biggest move of his career.
