Arsenal are reportedly trying to bring Marco Asensio to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window.

Now, a report from Spanish outlet Sport has claimed the Gunners could potentially land him for as little as £42million.

Earlier this week, journalist Eduardo Inda claimed Arsenal have already approached Asensio.

As well as the Gunners, Premier League rivals Liverpool are apparently eyeing the Real Madrid attacker.

“Asensio has two offers from the UK, and his contract expires in 2023,” Super Deporte quote Inda as saying.

“If Real Madrid don’t renew him, he will leave for free in 2023. He has an offer from Arsenal and Liverpool.”

On Friday, Sport shed some more light on how much Los Blancos reportedly want for the 26-year-old.

The outlet claims Asensio could go for 50million to 60million Euros – between £42million to £50.5million.

Sport also says the winger has a 700million Euro clause, which works out at around £588million.

The Spain international is out of contract in 2023, so there’s not much too time for Real to cash in on him.

Obviously he could also renew at the Bernabeu, but apparently he won’t consider an extension unless they increase his salary

At present, Asensio is reportedly on around £117,000-per-week.

Not really what Arsenal should be aiming for – TBR View

While Asensio is a top player, he’s not really what Arsenal are looking for at present.

The Gunners are currently quite well stocked on the wings, where Asensio features for the most part.

Arsenal’s top priority should be a centre-forward, if not two.

In addition, £42million for a player whose contract runs out the following year is quite steep.

Also, Asensio hasn’t played in the Premier League, so there’s that to consider.
