Arsenal are scouting Carney Chukwuemeka with his Aston Villa future seemingly in some doubt, according to a report from the London Evening Standard.

The Gunners are gearing up for another busy summer after doing little during the January window. And it would appear that Chukwuemeka could also have plenty to ponder himself at the end of the campaign.

The 18-year-old has featured nine times for the Villans in the Premier League this season. However, talkSPORT recently suggested that he could leave in the summer as he has no intention to sign a new contract.

His current terms expire at the end of next season. And he is said to be concerned over his chances of game-time at Villa Park moving forward.

Previous reports claimed that Liverpool want the teenager. But the Evening Standard has now suggested that Arsenal are also monitoring Chukwuemeka.

He is not the only Aston Villa midfielder the Gunners want. They are also keen on Douglas Luiz. Like Chukwuemeka, Luiz is out of contract at the end of next season.

Pathway Mikel Arteta has created has surely boosted Arsenal hopes of Carney Chukwuemeka deal

Liverpool have signed some superb young players in recent years. Harvey Elliott is now very much a first-team player at Anfield. And someone like Kaide Gordon looks destined to follow in his footsteps.

But Arsenal have put together a squad that surely gives them a genuine opportunity of winning the race for Chukwuemeka.

Mikel Arteta has relied upon some brilliant prospects in the last 12 months. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli are now key men for the Gunners.

Opening up that pathway to the first-team surely boosts Arsenal’s hopes.

And with Ollie Watkins suggesting earlier this season that Chukwuemeka could become ‘unbelievable‘ in the future, a deal could prove seriously exciting for Arsenal.
