Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has reportedly requested to be allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium, according to reports in France.
Top Mercato have claimed a source within the player’s entourage has told them the Frenchman is keen to go, after months of speculation about his future.
Guendouzi has not played a game for the Gunners since he was involved in a fracas at the final whistle against Brighton back in July.
Mikel Arteta reportedly took a dim view of his actions, and all doesn’t appear well given his lack of involvement so far in 2020/21.
The former Lorient starlet has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but speculation on that front has cooled recently.
It remains to be seen now if an official transfer request comes in from the player.
TBR’s View – Guendouzi key to Arsenal’s fundraising
Arsenal should be looking to get £40,000-a-week star Guendouzi (Spotrac) off the books as soon as possible as they seek to try and sign one of Thomas Partey of Houssem Aouar before the transfer deadline.
As a young player with great potential, Arsenal could get a fair amount to then put towards the Frenchman or the Ghanaian.
If Guendouzi has informally requested to leave, it suggests his head is elsewhere an Arsenal should attempt to offload him quickly.
