Report: Arsenal make move to sign 'very strong' midfielder who rejected Manchester City
Arsenal have made contact with the signing of Ilaix Moriba, as Barcelona’s problems mount up, 90 Mins report.
Barca’s poor financial state has seen Lionel Messi depart this summer, but it is not just their superstars that the Catalan giants are struggling to keep.
Moriba also has expressed little interest in penning a new deal, which has seen Arsenal try to take advantage.
Mikel Arteta’s side have apparently made contact with Moriba’s agents, as they look to seal a deal.
Looking to seal a deal
Unfortunately for Arsenal doing so could prove difficult though, as nine other Premier League sides are all said to be interested too.
It is no surprise to see Moriba, who Ronald Koeman has described as ‘very strong’ (AS) attracting such attention.
He looks to be one of the best youngsters in Barca’s side at the moment, and broke into their first-team last season.
Moriba made 14 appearances for Barca towards the back end of last term, and actually rejected the chance to join Manchester City (Mundo Deportivo), according to his Father.
But even this level of exposure to first-team football doesn’t seem to have been enough to convince him to put pen to paper on a new contract, with his future under more question now.
And if Arsenal were to seal a deal for the teenager, he could be an attractive addition to their side.
